Health Survey confirms that Harney is making little difference
Green Party Health spokesperson John Gormley TD says today’s European Health survey showing Ireland in second last position, confirms that Mary Harney’s promise of a ‘world class health service’ is an illusion.
“No amount of spin from the Tánaiste or Brendan Drumm can disguise the fact that our health system is not delivering the type of service that patients would expect in the second richest country in the European Union.
“Mary Harney has made a litany of promises in relation to medical cards, MRSA, the A&E crisis and much more. In each case she has failed to deliver. She should realise at this stage that there is a basic incompatibility between her neo-liberal philosophy and the delivery of good public services. As long as she and the PDs continue on this path, our health service will not just be second rate but second last in the EU.”
