Incinerator home heating deal should be rejected
The latest offer of reduced heating bills by Dublin City Council to residents of the Ringsend area, if the incinerator is built, should be categorically rejected, according to local Green Party TD, John Gormley.
“They’re trying to buy off local opposition. As far as I am concerned this is simply sugar coating a very bitter pill. I will not be changing my position as a result of this latest offer.
“The facts have not changed. This incinerator – which will be the biggest mass burn incinerator in Europe – is in the wrong location. Hundreds of trucks will have to pass through Sandymount and Ringsend to and from the facility,” Mr Gormley said.
“Matt Twomey and his officials are clearly hoping that this inducement will divide the community. But the community has seen how promises made in relation to the ’state of the art’ sewage treatment plant have been broken. They won’t be fooled again.”
